Cando City Police Department

PO Box 395

The Cando Police Department consists of a Chief of Police and a full-time patrolman. We are hoping to add a part-time officer if the budget allows. Our mission is to answer calls 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We also provide patrol and community service functions. We have two patrol cars and use of a 4WD SUV in winter months.
911 calls are answered by the Law Enforcement Center in Devils Lake. This is an E-911 system, so the location of the call is immediately known along with a call back number. Officers will respond to all 911 calls, even if a mis-dial. The technology in plotting cell phone calls is ever-improving, and with most being GPS capable, these call will be plotted within a few feet. General calls to the department are either forwarded to the on-duty officer's cell phone or the Devils Lake LEC.
Cando officers are either dispatched by radio or cell-phone. In an emergency the dispatch time should be under a minute(it could be longer if another unit has priority such as ambulance or fire). The general calls are dispatched to the working officer in a timely manner.
We want the community to know that all calls to our department are answered and given to an officer in a timely manner!
